More Connoisseur Saxons painted by Doug Mason for the WHC. Lovely units, but perhaps a tad pedestrian by Mason's very high standards (you couldn't say that about his Saxon Cuirassier and Guard though - see Chris Cornwell's blog for some great pictures of those fine chaps).

I have to agree that the cavalry is splendid. The figures themselves look a little bland in these photos, irrespective of the paint job. I have noticed occasionally, that if the figure Im painting doesnt inspire I tend either not to put in the same amount of effort into the painting, or maybe not check as thoroughly?
cheers

I can't ever get enough of Doug Mason's brushwork. Thanks!

I don't think the figures are all that bad, but I do think they are rather let down by the groundwork. naturally, i am the last one to talk here - being a green-painted base kinda guy, nonetheless, the bases standing out among the basing material like dogs' b*lls doesn't help the look of the thing!
Cheers,
Greg
You lot are a tough crowd. Personally i like the figures and the painting, though the layers of dust and unfinished rebasing don't help the overall look - we can't blame DM for that though. Cheers.
